DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP QUALITY AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The college has been the only science stream based institution in this rural vicinity of the district and is successfully spreading the light of science and technology in this region over the last 25 years to all sections of society keeping in view the vision and mission of the college. Along with spreading the knowledge of science, the college is playing a great role in imbibing in character building and enhancing leadership qualities among the students and thus serving the community and the nation as a whole.

The students’ governance like the College Student’s Union and NSS wings contribute a lot to the welfare of the college by carrying out different activities like organizing of different functions of the college, college annual week, carrying out co-curricular activities of the college. Besides the college activities, the students also carry out different social activities like cleaning drive, environmental awareness, blood donation, flood relief, etc. By giving the students an opportunity to manage different activities on their own but under the guidance of the teachers, they learn to be independent, responsible, developing in them the quality of the leaders which as a reason has helped them to build their personality and a capable future citizens. We have at present many engineers, doctors, teachers and many other officers who were the product of this college and are serving the society in their different capacities. The College is also proud to have 3 faculty members who are the product of this college. The college being a government provincialised college has always given an opportunity to weaker sections of society with low income group to take admission, thus facilitating them the right to education. By availing free admission and awarding scholarship to the students of minority group the college is trying to uplift the people of the region and the society as a whole.

The management tries to implement most of the decisions taken in the IQAC meeting with stake holders for the enhancement of quality assurance and sustenance in all areas of academic performance of this institution. Regular meetings are being held among the faculty members in order to discuss the academic, administrative plan and policy and implementation. The college is also organizing excursions, study tours, seminars and workshops on soft skill development, personality development, value education, career guidance and counselling to equip the students the knowledge, skills and attitudes enhancing their creative ability and to prepare them in their future endeavour to become a responsible, effective and productive member of the society. The management inspires the teaching and non-teaching faculty as well as the students for the fulfillment of the vision and mission of the college. The students therefore are not only restricted in the classroom activities but are also exposed to the different co-curricular activities so that they have an all-round personality and skills to make them able to face the world.
